Here is your opportunity to earn valuable community service credit. It’s close to home. It’s flexible. It’s for a great cause.
And NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
The Upper Township Challenger Sports Program is looking for “buddies” to help us on the Baseball field with our athletes. Each of our athletes will be teamed up with a buddy. The buddy will help guide the athlete along the field by offering encouragement and support if needed. Volunteers should be from 8th grade and up. The UT Challenger Sports Program is a co-ed recreation program that enables children and young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to enjoy the benefits of team sports participation in an adapted environment structured to fit their abilities.
Baseball games will be held on Sundays: 4/9 - 4/23 - 4/30 - 5/7 - 5/21 - 6/4 from 1pm-2pm. We will be skipping Sunday 4/16 for Easter, 5/14 for Mother's Day & 5/28 for Memorial Day Weekend.
Games will be played at the Upper Township Middle School Baseball Fields 525 Perry Road, Petersburg, NJ. Times and location may change if needed.
You can volunteer for one Sunday or all six. These one-hour sessions will be broken down into two parts. The first part will have our athletes participating in fun-filled, skill-building activities and the second half will be the adapted game. Volunteers should arrive at the field a half hour before the start of the each game.
