Athletes will be training to get their best times and distances for the Area 8 meet this year planned to be held Saturday May 7th at Ocean City High School. Due date for times and distances is still TBA. All of our fully vaccinated Track & Field athletes will be invited to participate in the Summer Games which is also currently TBA but planned to be June 11-12 at The College of NJ.
All dates and times are subject to change.
Through qualification athletes will be invited to participate in the Special Olympics Summer Games. The Summer Games is a spectacular 3-day event in early June normally located at The College of NJ and surrounding locations. Prior to covid-19 athletes would be staying in the college dorm rooms with teammates and coaches (one coach per three athletes). Athletes would experience competition, sportsmanship, and many fun activities put together by Special Olympics NJ. The Summer Games is truly an amazing experience! Pictures and videos are available on our Facebook page.
Currently the Summer Games logistics is still being worked on
...UPDATE we do not know yet if overnight accommodations will be needed or if all athletes will be "Day Athletes"...
Families will be able to find lodging in local hotel rooms and it is recommended that you book as early as possible. This is a large event and hotels get booked early.
This year athletes will also have the "Day Athlete" option in which the athlete may stay in over night accommodations off campus with family. Day Athletes must participate with the team at Opening Ceremonies and be at their events ahead of time or risk disqualification. Parents are required to discuss this option with Challenger Head Coach before the Stockton University meet.
USA GAMES 2022
USA Games are on for 2022 in Disney World to be held at The Wide World of Sports complex June 5-12. Team NJ Athletes will be staying in the All Star resort complex in Disney World. This will conflict with the SONJ Summer Games as that date is scheduled for June 11-12.
Athletes were invited to TRY OUT for Team NJ based on their 2019 Summer Game results. We wish Team NJ the Best Of Luck.
Athletes will be responsible for and must be able to perform their own personal hygiene and independent self care responsibilities at the June 2020 Summer Games.
